(CNN) – There are now more wireless devices in the U.S. than there are people to use them, according to a new survey.
According to a survey conducted by a wireless trade group, the number of mobile devices rose 9 percent in the first six months of 2011.

That means there are nearly 328 million devices, which is more than the 315 million people living in the United States and its territories.

The survey also showed that wireless data traffic this year has more than doubled from a year ago.

Tablets and laptops account for only a small fraction of the total, and cell phones still dominate the market.

Americans also spend nearly 1.2 trillion minutes on wireless devices. We also sent more than a trillion text messages, a 16 percent increase from last year.

And the average wireless bill actually fell to an average of $47.23 a month.
