2.5 stars out of 5 (and only because the King liked it better than I did)

OK I LOVE scary movies…and I love when they actually ARE scary.  I had high hopes for “The Devil Inside”, a story about demonic possession and illicit exorcisms.  Let me preface this by saying that I am Catholic, and I do believe in demonic possession.  Before the movie started a “priest” and a “nun” made an announcement that the film was not sanctioned by the Vatican and we had free will to choose to see…or not to see…the movie.  The “priest” and “nun” were just people dressed up because after their speech they handed out posters, hats, and what I thought was in very poor taste…Rosary beads.  Rosary beads are NOT toys but they were treated as such and I was not happy to see it.

As for the movie…well, it started very slowly and though it had a few moments where I jumped, the ending actually had people LAUGHING in the theater as we all sat in our seats watching the credits roll, stunned and asking “THAT’S IT???”

The ending does lend itself to a sequel…

The movie is NOT for anyone under age 17 in my opinion.  It would scare the pants off kids.  The subject matter is definitely for adults and there are very disturbing images that made me cringe from time to time, plus very in-your-face vulgarity.  Imagine the things a demon would say?  They get said….”C” word included 🙁

My advice??  Watch the trailer HERE (it has the best parts in it)  then wait for the DVD to release and grab it for $1.00.
