Kmart has announced their Black Friday sale start…and like most retailers it will not be Friday at all, but on Thanksgiving Thursday starting at 6 AM – and Kmart will remain open for 42 hours straight.  Stores will be staffed by seasonal associates and workers who volunteered to work on the holiday, and will be compensated with “holiday pay.”

Sears Holdings is hoping that this move will pay off as comparable-store sales at Sears and Kmart fell sharply during the holiday season last year.

  1. I think it’s absolutly redicoulis that stores are opening thanksgiving day! There ruining black FRIDAY and thanksgiving

  2. I think this is ridiculous… People can’t even spend thanksgiving with their family. It’s called Black Friday for a reason. What’s next Christmas

  3. This needs to backfire in a huge way. With this announcement I will not be shopping at Kmart before or after Christmas. People need to be with their families alot more than they need a 5.00 can opener

  4. Ha Volunteer my butt .. They wouldn’t get anyone to work if it was a volunteer system. They have made their employees work Thanksgiving for years now & no one put up a big fuss way back then when they really should have.
