June 7, 2013  is National Doughnut Day, and you can score some free fried dough at lots of places.  National Doughnut Day was started by the Salvation Army in 1938 as a way to raise funds during the Great Depression.

Here are some of the national chains offering free doughnuts today.  Check with your local places as well for any promotions they may be running and comment with any you find!

Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut of your choice, while supplies last and at participating locations.   No purchase necessary. Find a Krispy Kreme near you.

Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a free doughnut with any beverage purchase.  Their coffee is awesome and I recommend you get some to go with that awesome doughnut.  Find a Dunkin’ Donuts near you.

Tim Hortons is offering a free doughnut with any purchase on Friday when you present this free doughnut coupon.  Find a Tim Hortons near you.

LaMar’s Donuts is offering a free doughnut, no purchase necessary.  Also, some of their sales this week are being donated to The Salvation Army to benefit Oklahoma tornado relief.  Find a LaMar’s Donuts near you.

Entenmann’s is offering free doughnuts at several spots around the US.  In addition, they will donate $1 to The Salvation Army for every new Facebook “Like” through June 30, up to $30,000.   They are also giving you a chance to win free Entenmann’s doughnuts for a year.
